Thom has had a lifetime facination with photography beginning with hand tinting photos, a skill he learned from his mother who was a colorist and studio photographer in the fifties. Upon discharge from the U.S.Navy where he served as a musician for seven years and photographer for three years, Thom found a position as a civil service photographer with the State of Louisiana and during this time worked principally for universities but was also involved in documentary and journalistic efforts, including support for civil rights groups. A hiatus from photography occurred while he pursued careers in the printing industry and as a computer programmer. Recently returning to photography, Thom is exploring various areas of interest and is deeply amazed at the wonderful world of digital photography.

Thom is married to the beautiful and talented Jo Hatcher. Jo has been and is a continued source of inspriation and support. Some of the photos on this site are hers (she is a gifted photographer in her own right...,) and where that is the case they are identified as hers. Jo is multifaceted, being a therapist, a life coach and an exemplary retreat leader.
